Coleman pursued higher education in Sport Management at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN, USA. During his time there, he made significant strides in his athletic career.

Coaching and Training

Tim Hall serves as Coleman's personal coach. After the 2018 outdoor season, Coleman moved to Lexington, KY, USA, to train with Hall. Hall had recently been appointed head coach of sprints and hurdles at the University of Kentucky. Coleman also took up a role as a volunteer athletics coach at the university.

Notable Achievements

Coleman's most memorable sporting achievement is competing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. In 2017, he received The Bowerman award from the US Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the year's top male collegiate athletics competitor in the USA. He was the first athlete from the University of Tennessee to win this award.

Additionally, Coleman was named 2017 USTFCCCA National Outdoor Runner of the Year and 2017 USTFCCCA National Indoor Runner of the Year. In 2016, he was named USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Men's South Region Track Athlete of the Year and 2015 Southeastern Conference Men's Freshman Runner of the Year.

Injuries and Recovery

In mid-2018, Coleman suffered a hamstring injury that kept him out for several weeks. He made a comeback at the Diamond League event in Rabat, Morocco.

Personal Life

Coleman enjoys going to the cinema, playing card games, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and watching television. His sister Camryn competed in athletics for Georgia Southern University. His cousins Derrick Barker Jr. and Brian Anderson played American football at Harvard University and Colgate University respectively.
