Claire began swimming at age three and started competing at six. Her dedication paid off when she qualified for the US team for the 2022 World Championships in Budapest. There, she won gold in the Women's 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay with a time of 7:41.45.

At the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, Claire finished 12th in the Women's 200m Freestyle with a time of 1:57.03. She also became the first American to beat Katie Ledecky in a 200m freestyle final since 2014, clinching the national title.
