A multi-sport event involving athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations, the Commonwealth Games (CWG) is held once in four years. Quite often dubbed as the 'Friendly Games', the CWG is held under the aegis of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), which also decides on the sporting disciplines to be conducted and selects the host cities. Since its inception in 1930, the CWG has been held according to the four-year cycle, except 1942 and 1946 due to World War II.
