1st ODI: Young KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Yuzvendra Chahal make ODI debut for India

Earlier today, before the start of the game skipper Dhoni handed over India caps to all three young players.

KL Rahul: The right-handed batsman had already debuted for India in Test cricket. The Karnataka batter played his first international match against Australia on Dec 26, 2014. The batsman, who plays for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), had slammed his first century in his second Test match at Sydney.

24-year-old Rahul had good outing with the bat in the recently concluded IPL.

Karun Nair: This Delhi Daredevils' batter also had a decent performance in the IPL. The 25-year-old another Karnataka opener performed exceptionally well in the domestic circuit. He has scored 2,481 runs at 52.78 in First-Class games.

Yuzvendra Chahal: The leg-spinner from Haryana, whom Sunil Gavaskar termed as the best young talent from the IPL 9, will be leading India's spin department. The 25-year-old Royal Challengers Bangalore bowler was widely appreciated for his talent and temperament and deserved a spot in India side.

Interestingly, Ambati Rayudu made his ODI debut during India's tour of Zimbabwe in 2013 while Manish Pandey played his first ODI match during India's tour in 2015. R Ashwin, India's frontline bowler, also made his first ODI appearance on Zimbabwe soil, way back in 2010.
