
Mumbai, Dec 15: Police on Friday (December 15) arrested Team India cricketer Ajinkya Rahane's father, Madhukar Baburao Rahane after a woman was allegedly killed by coming under his car.
Rahane's family was reportedly going to Konkan for a vacation but they met with an accident on the way. According to Maharashtra Times, the accident happened on Pune-Bengaluru highway.
As per reports, Rahane's (Ajinkya's father) car ran over a woman on the national highway near Kagal bus station. The 67-year-old victim was identified as Ashatai Kamble.
However, it was unclear who was in the driver's seat during the accident. The victim reportedly succumbed to her injuries after locals rushed her to a local government hospital in Kolhapur district.
As per a Times Now report, the Kolhapur Police has reportedly registered a case under the IPC Act 304A, 337, 338, 279 and 184. He was later granted bail, minutes after his arrest.
Rahane is presently in Vishakhapatnam with the rest of the Indian cricket team, involved in a 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The decider of the series will be played on Sunday in Vizag. Rahane is the vice-captain of India's Test team.
