Jasprit Bumrah in Asia Cup 2023: This is the reason why India pacer will miss India vs Nepal clash

Jasprit Bumrah has returned to India due to personal reasons, BCCI sources have confirmed Cricbuzz. The 29-year-old is set to miss India's second group stage match against Nepal on Monday.

However, the pacer is expected to be back in Sri Lanka to join the India squad before their very likely Super Fours match against Pakistan on September 10.

The cricketer later in the day, revealed that he and his wife Sanjana Ganesan have been blessed with a baby boy. The couple have named him 'Angad', who is their first child after getting married in 2021. Sanjana is a famous sports presenter and anchor.

Rain has been forecasted in Pallekele on Monday and considering that India are playing against Associate Nation Nepal, India should not dearly miss the services of the pacer spearhead who has made a comeback in the Indian team after almost an year.

Bumrah, who has recovered from a lower-back injury, did not bowl against Pakistan on Saturday as rain did not allow the Pakistan batting innings to commence. The star pacer last bowled in an ODI match in July 2022.

If India beat Nepal tomorrow and qualify for the Super Fours, they will face Pakistan in Colombo on September 10. Their second Super Fours match would be held on September 12 and the third and final one on September 15.

Two between Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh would be India's opponents in the last two matches.

Further, KL Rahul is very likely to join the Indian team after a fitness test at the NCA on Monday. The wicketkeeper-batter did not fly to Sri Lanka despite being part of the original squad and continued rehabilitating at the NCA.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar, after announcing India's Asia Cup squad, had said that Rahul was carrying a niggle. Recently, Rahul Dravid expressed confidence about KL Rahul joining the squad for the Super Fours round of the Asia Cup 2023.
