Jasprit Bumrah, wife Sanjana Ganesan welcome a baby boy; India cricketer reveals name of their first child

Star India pacer Jasprit Bumrah and his sports anchor-presenter wife Sanjana Ganesan on Monday (September 4) became parents as they welcomed a baby boy in their life.

The right-arm India pacer - who returned home due to personal reasons from the Asia Cup 2023 - took to his social media handle to announce the arrival of their first child. Bumrah - who is a part of the India squad in the continental competition - returned home on Sunday (September 3).

Bumrah and Sanjana got married in March 2021 at a destination wedding in Goa. The power couple dated for quite some time before deciding to take their relation to the next level and became legally wedded husband and wife.

Jasprit Bumrah's First Child Name

Bumrah took to his handle on X, formerly known as Twitter, and wrote, "Our little family has grown & our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine! This morning we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah into the world. We are over the moon and can't wait for everything this new chapter of our lives brings with it ❤️ - Jasprit and Sanjana."

The BCCI confirmed that the 29-year-old ace Indian cricketer returned home due to personal reasons. In the match against Pakistan, the right-arm pacer didn't get to bowl as the entire second innings was washed out due to rain at Pallelekel International Cricket Stadium.

Bumrah's Absence in Upcoming India Matches

The 29-year-old pacer is set to miss India's upcoming second-group-stage match against Nepal. This may not be a significant concern as India, one of the strongest cricketing nations, will face Nepal, an associate nation. Nonetheless, Bumrah's absence might be felt if the match conditions end up favouring fast bowling.

With rain forecasted in Pallekele on Monday, it is yet to be seen whether the weather significantly affects the match dynamics. It is worth noting that rain could likely level the playing field, and there is a possibility India might miss the bowling services of Bumrah in such a scenario.

Bumrah's Expected Return

Despite the momentary departure, the fast bowler is anticipated to return to join his teammates in Sri Lanka. Bumrah is expected to feature in the squad before the team's probable Super Fours match against Pakistan on September 10, which will prove critical given the historic rivalry between the teams.
