Most Runs in Asia Cup

Sri Lanka batting legend Sanath Jayasuriya holds the record for scoring the most runs in the history of the Asia Cup. The left-handed explosive batter had amassed 1220 runs during his career in this tournament. Jayasuriya played a total of 25 ODIs in the Asia Cup between 1990 and 2008 and batted in 24 innings in the continental showpiece. Jayasuriya averaged an impressive 53.04 in the Asia Cup.

Most Wickets in Asia Cup

Muttiah Muralitharan, the legendary Sri Lankan spinner, is the leading wicket-taker in the history of the Asia Cup. He took a total of 30 wickets during his appearances in this tournament. He featured in a total of 24 ODIs in the Asia Cup between 1995 and 2010. Muralitharan bowled 230 overs in the tournament's history at an economy of 3.75.

Muralitharan's compatriot Lasith Malinga - hailed as one of the best bowlers in white-ball format - is the second on the list with 29 scalps in just 14 games in the Asia Cup. Malinga bowled a total of 128 overs and leaked runs at 4.65 per over.

Mahela Jayawardene from Sri Lanka holds the record for taking the most catches in Asia Cup. He has taken a total of 21 catches throughout his participation in this prestigious tournament.

Highest Individual Run Scored

India's talismanic batter Virat Kohli holds the record for scoring the highest individual run in an innings during an Asia Cup (ODI) match. He scored a magnificent 183 runs against arch-rivals Pakistan in Mirpur (Bangladesh) in 2012. It is still Kohli's highest score in the ODIs.

Highest Team Total Scored

The record for the highest total in an Asia Cup match is held by Pakistan against Bangladesh in 2010. Led by Shahid Afridi, who slammed a sensational 124 off 60 balls, Pakistan posted a mammoth 385/7 in 50 overs against Bangladesh in Dambulla.

Pakistan bowlers then restricted Bangladesh - led by Shakib Al Hasan - to 246/5 in 50 overs and won the game by a huge 139-run margin. Zunaed Siddique scored 97 for Bangladesh but it went in vain.

Lowest Team Total Scored

Bangladesh holds the record for posting the lowest team total in the history of the Asia Cup when they were bundled out for 87 against Pakistan in 34.2 overs in Dhaka in 2000. The previous lowest was also from Bangladesh when they were restricted to 94 by Pakistan in the 1986 edition at Morutowa in Sri Lanka.

Biggest Win Margin in Asia Cup in Terms of Wickets

India beat SL by 10 wickets in 1984: The biggest win in the Asia Cup history (in ODI format) belongs to the Indians when they defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the inaugural edition of the Asia Cup in 1984 in Sharjah.

Captained by Sunil Gavaskar, the Indian cricket team restricted Sri Lanka, who were led by Duleep Mendis, to 96 in 41 overs. Indians then overhauled the target in 21.4 overs.

SL beat Bangladesh by 10 wickets in 2004: In 2004, Sri Lanka registered a 10-wicket win over Bangladesh after restricting them to 190 and chasing down the target convincingly in 33.3 overs, and 99 balls to spare in Colombo (RPS).

Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 10 wickets in 2008: In Asia Cup 2008, Pakistan hammered Bangladesh by 10 wickets in Karachi. Chasing a paltry 116, Pakistan reached home in 19.4 overs without any wickets and had 182 deliveries to spare.

Highest Totals in Asia Cup
