New Delhi, Feb 9: In an apparent example of unsportsmanlike behaviour during a domestic match, a batsman was left stranded at 99* as the bowler delivered two wide deliveries.
Bowlers of Leeward Islands came under fire for deliberately knocking down the chances of opponent team's batsman to score a maiden List A hundred.
As per a Times of India report, during a Group B match of Regional Super50 tournament at North Sound in West Indies on Tuesday (February 6), Kent had all but sealed the result in their favour with Zak Crawley unbeaten on 98 with Sean Dickson on 40*. In the 45th over, they were 180/1 and needed just four to win.
Bowler, Sheeno Berridge, came to bowl the 46th over with Crawley on strike. The bowler bowled the first two deliveries outside the off stump and the umpire adjudged them as wides. Crawley then took a single and reached on 99* and his batting partner came to strike.
The man on strike, Dickson, pushed one ball towards leg stump and Crawley called for a single without caring about his century. However, the Islands' fielder reportedly allowed the ball to cross the boundary without attempting to stop it.
The boundary sealed Kents' nine-wicket win but Crawley was left stranded on 99. For his career-best score, Crawely was chosen as the man-of-the-match.
