AUS vs NED, World Cup 2023 Match 24: Australia rain riot against Netherlands and won their third consecutive match of the World Cup 2023. The 309-run victory is the second biggest by runs in the history of ODI cricket and the biggest at the 50-over World Cup.
Australia came out all guns blazing against Netherlands after winning the toss and opting to bat first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, October 25. MItchell Marsh managed to score just 9 runs off 15 balls, but David Warner (104) went on to hit his second consecutive hundred - sixth in the ODI World Cup to equal Sachin Tendulkar's tally.

Steve Smith also came back to form with 71 off 68. Marnus Labuschagne looked solid during his 47-ball stay for 62 runs. However, Australia looked like losing the momentum towards the end by losing five wickets in quick succession. From 244/2 in 36 overs, the five-time champions were reduced to 290/6 in 42.2 overs.
But 'Big Show' Glenn Maxwell rose up to the occasion to hit the fastest-ever hundred in ODI World Cup history. He reached the three-figure mark in just 40 balls and propelled Australia to 399/8 in 50 overs.
In reply, 90 runs in 21 overs is all that Netherlands could manage. Top-scorer Vikramjit Singh scored 25 off 25 before getting run out. Adam Zampa became the first Australia bowler to pick three consecutive four-wicket hauls in the World Cups. He picked four wickets for eight runs in three overs. Mitchell Marsh picked two wickets, while the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins picked a wicket each.
Man of the Match: Glenn Maxwell (AUS) for scoring 106 runs off 44 balls in the match.
Glenn Maxwell (Man of the Match): I was just trying to give ourselves a good platform at the end. You can certainly cash in on this ground with bat (batting first towards the end) and it seams under lights. Nice to get some rhythm finally in the tournament. Huge confidence booster. Some doubts do creep in when you are consistently not making runs. Hopefully I can ride forward from this. Pretty much the perfect game with bat and ball for us. Three wins now and certainly starting to get that momentum as a team.
Pat Cummins (Australia captain): Really happy, complete game. To put 400 on board and then defend well, couldn't be happier. Crazy innings. I think we both contributed equally in that hundred partnership (chuckles). Fantastic innings, the cleanest hitting I've seen. We played the style we liked to.
Please with Smithy getting runs. We were aiming for powerplay wickets, bowled quite well without a lot of luck. Zamps with another four-fer. They (New Zealand) are a really good side.. Big game in Dharamsala. It's the World Cup and we are in a good space, can't wait to get there. (Areas to improve) I don't think we have totally nailed the 50 overs with the bat yet.
Scott Edwards (Netherlands captain): They are a quality side, we should have been better today. Execution (what could have been done better with ball). You miss by fractions and you get out of the park. Full credit to the Aussies. We got back in a bit there with 10 overs to go. Maxwell got going and we couldn't stop him.
Pretty nice wicket here and ball travels so quickly. Those two (opening batters) were awesome for us for the last 18 months and one of the reasons why we are here so we back them all the way. Just touch on things to improve and move on quickly from this and prepare ourselves for the next game.
