All eight franchises of the IPL will participate in the T20 tournament.

Previous media reports earlier claimed that the venue could either be UAE or USA. Earlier, it was being said that the Indian Cricket Board is planning to expand IPL's horizon by promoting the league in USA.

The BCCI used to organise Champions League T20 (CLT20) in the month of September in which champion teams from various T20 leagues participated. Since CLT20 failed to become a success, it was shelved.

Earlier, media reports claimed that the BCCI was interested in encashing the 'no-cricket' window in the month of September when India is not playing any cricket.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) too is eyeing that slot considering the Champions League T20 was scrapped.
