New Delhi, July 5: Days after the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) confirmed that it is going to organise a mini-Indian Premier League (IPL) in the month of September, reports now claim that the board has decided to host the tournament on foreign soil.

As per reports, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and United States of America (USA) are the two destinations where the board is planning to host the T20 tournament.

BCCI mulls hosting mini-IPL in UAE or USA: Reports

The BCCI has, reportedly, initiated talks with the broadcasters Star India and even started talking to various IPL franchises about the tournament and other relevant details. The BCCI will soon make a decision on its venue and schedule.

"They'll be calling for a meeting soon, probably within the next two weeks," a franchise official was quoted by cricbuzz.com as saying.

All eight franchises of the IPL will participate in the T20 tournament. Earlier, it was being said that the Indian Cricket Board is planning to expand IPL's horizon by promoting the league among vast diaspora from the sub-continent living in the USA.

Also, T20 is the only game which can be a potent tool for marketing the game in the US due to its duration.

Earlier last year, "Cricket All Stars Series" was played in USA in November across 3 cities. The T20 matches, featuring former cricketing stars, were played between "Sachin's Blasters" and "Warne's Warriors".
