BCCI released a medical update of Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah on Saturday (April 15).
Both Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer have been suffering from lower back issues for a long time. For Bumrah, it hampered his T20I World Cup inclusion and the player has also missed the IPL 2023.

Shreyas Iyer is similarly having recurring back problems and is certain to miss IPL 2023 as he prepares for surgery. His participation in the Border Gavaskar Trophy was curtailed with the back issue.
Amid this, BCCI has released a statement on both players and their injury status at the moment.
BCCI says Jasprit Bumrah underwent surgery in New Zealand for his lower back problem and it was successful and the player remains pain-free.
He has commenced his rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru since last Friday.
Shreyas Iyer's lower back issue is still persisting but the player is set to undergo his surgery next week. He will remain at the hospital for two weeks after surgery and subsequently will join NCA for rehabilitation.
Both players are certain to miss the World Test Championship 2023 Final which is scheduled to play in June. India will be taking on Australia in the Final at the Oval, and it is to be seen whether India can finally get their hands on the WTC glory.
Bumrah has missed all forms of cricket since last September and his absence has made a massive impact on both India and his IPL team Mumbai Indians. Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, had to relinquish captaincy in IPL as Nitish Rana is leading the Kolkata Knight Riders this season.
