New Delhi, July 31: Maintaining suspense over future of veteran cricketers MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh in India's limited overs squad, chief selector MSK Prasad said the decision on the same will be taken at right time.
Prasad has assured that the selection committee is constantly observing things closely and that the board is not in a hurry to drop senior cricketers before finding a potential replacement to them.

"We will see, we need to talk on that. We will have to take a decision, let's see how it goes. We all know who can add value. Again, we will go slot by slot. We should know when to take a call. It's not that suddenly you take a call and you are nowhere. You can't be totally unprepared, so we need to be balanced on that aspect," Prasad was quoted by a Wisden India report as saying.
Former India captain and present India A coach Rahul Dravid, last month, sought board's clarity over future of the two veteran cricketers whether the board is keeping them in their scheme of things for 2019 World Cup.
However, it is also a reality that Men In Blue still need to groom their youngsters to fill in the void created after exit of the two giants in the middle-order. Also, Dhoni is amongst best wicketkeepers in the world right now and the team hasn't yet found a replacement to the 35-year-old glovesman as well.
We saw a young Rishabh Pant being groomed by Dhoni himself on West Indies tour but the former still has a lot to do before stepping into latter's shoes.
"It is a call that is got to be taken by the selectors and the management. And what they see as the road map for Indian cricket, and where they see the role of both these cricketers going ahead for the next couple of years. Is there a place for both of them? Is there a place for only one of them? Do you want to reassess it in a year's time, six months' time?," Dravid was quoted by ESPNCricinfo as saying.
Talking about team's preparation for the next World Cup, Prasad assured that the work in that direction started after the conclusion of Champions Trophy 2017.
"The best thing that happened from our point of view was that the Champions Trophy was in England. That has really opened our mind in many aspects. We know what our real strengths are. Our team did really well. There are a few shortcomings that we have noticed and maybe we will fix those shortcomings in the next 18 to 20 months that we have leading up to the World Cup," Prasad added further.
