'Emotional' Virat Kohli pays tribute to the martyrs of Uri attack

Kanpur, Sep 19: In the wake of ghastly terrorist strike in Uri, in which 17 soldiers were martyred and several others were injured, India's Test skipper Virat Kohli paid an emotional tribute to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

Kohli, who is in Kanpur to prepare for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand which starting Sep 22, took to micro-blogging site Twitter to pay his tribute.

Several other athletes and celebrities saluted the martyred soldiers and condemned the ghastly terror attack. [Uri attack: India's response to Pakistan to be discussed today]

The armed forces put up a brave fight and killed 4 terrorists who launched the attack. However, for the army the casualties were higher due to the tents catching fire.

Team India will be playing the first of the three-match series against New Zealand. The Kanpur Test will also be India's 500th international Test match.
