IND vs NZ: Fans react after Virat Kohli bows to Sachin Tendulkar, sends flying kiss to Anushka after 50th hundred

IND vs NZ: Virat Kohli smashed his much-awaited 50th ODI hundred to break Sachin Tendulkar's record for most hundred, in the all-important semi-final match of the World Cup 2023 between India and New Zealand on Sunday.

Kohli reached the milestone 50th hundred in front of Sachin Tendulkar who was sitting in the VIP Box. The 35-year-old batter played the ball towards backward square leg and ran a double to complete his 50th hundred.

He leaped in the air in delight after completing the second run, before getting down on his knees. He then took off his helmet and bowed in the direction of role model Sachin Tendulkar who was on his feet applauding his 'perfect successor'.

Virat Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma also gave one of the biggest cheers. The Bollywood actress directed several flying kisses towards Kohli who acknowledged the support and love with a flying kiss of his own.

David Beckham, Kiara Advani, Sidharth Malhotra, John Abraham, Vicky Kausal, Ranbir Kapoor, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Dhanashree Verma and Akash Ambani were among the many other celebrities present at the historic occasion.

Virat Kohli scored 117 off 133 balls before walking back to the pavilion amid standing ovation from around 35000 people present at the venue. Kohli also broke Sachin Tendulkar's record for most runs in a single edition of the World Cup 2023.

Tendulkar scored 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup. Virat Kohli has now scored 711 runs in 10 matches at an average of 101.57 in the current edition of the World Cup. Here's how fans have reacted to Kohli's 50th ODI hundred.

Virat Kohli was congratulated by Sachin Tendulkar and David Beckham during the mid-innings. Talking to broadcasters Star Sports, Kohli again said that breaking his hero's record in front of him felt dreamy to him.

"It's the stuff of dreams. Sachin paaji was there in the stands. It's very difficult for me to express it. My life partner, my hero - he's sitting there," Kohli said.
