Fastest IPL 2024 Fifty: Jake Fraser-McGurk hits fastest half-century of the season; Travis Head equals SRH teammate Abhishek Sharma

Delhi Capitals emerging star, Jake Fraser-McGurk on Saturday (April 20) surpassed in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma to smash the fastest half-century of IPL 2024.

McGurk hit a fifty off just 15 balls to slam the fastest fifty in the match after SRH's Head equalled his partner Abhishek by hitting the joint-fastest fifty of IPL 2024 at Arun Jaitely Stadium in New Delhi.

Right-handed batter McGurk hit Hyderabad bowlers for 7 sixes and five boundaries before getting dismissed by SRH leg-spinner Mayank Markande in the run chase of 267.

Earlier, Head - the left-handed Australia batter - slammed his half-century against Delhi Capitals off just 16 balls and scored 89 off 32 balls against Delhi Capitals. Head scored a 39-ball century in the previous game for SRH against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Abhishek Sharma smashed the fastest IPL fifty in the ongoing season, and the fastest for SRH, when he reached the fifty in just 16 balls at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on March 27.

Travis Head hits joint-fastest IPL 2024 Fifty

Abhishek, the emerging Indian talent, swiftly reached a half-century in just 16 deliveries against the five-time champions Mumbai Indians, who chose to bowl first in Hyderabad. The left-handed batsman blasted two boundaries and six maximums, setting the record for the quickest fifty for SRH.

In the same game, Travis Head previously held both records, achieving a fifty in 18 balls, supported by nine fours and two sixes.

During his time with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2018, the current captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) managed to notch up a fifty against Delhi Capitals in just 14 deliveries.
