Asian Games 2023 Cricket: Nepal Cricketer Dipendra Singh Airee has put his name in the history books by creating a new world record in the game of cricket on Wednesday (September 27).

Dipendra Singh Airee - playing his 39th T20I match - scored a 9-ball fifty against Mongolia in the group match of the ongoing Asian Games 2023 at Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field, Hangzhou.

Delivering a sportive tour de force, Dipendra Singh Airee - the right-handed batting all-rounder - smashed the fastest half-century in the T20 Internationals, and accomplished an unprecedented milestone in the game of cricket.

Defying Cricketing Metrics

With his astounding record-breaking spree, the Nepal batter managed to shatter an erstwhile 16-year-old world record which was held by former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj held the record of striking the fastest fifty in T20 Internationals since his spectacular 12-ball fifty against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup.

However, in this domination, Singh did not stand alone. The batting flair displayed by him found an echo in his teammate, Kushal Malla. Malla showcased an equally exhilarating performance, hammering a 50-ball 137* in the same game to become the fastest T20I centurion. This masterful display by Malla vaulted Nepal's score to a mammoth 314/3 wickets in just 20 overs.
