KL Rahul blames Cheteshwar Pujara for his injuries

New Delhi, Aug 17: Two of India's most consistent batsmen in Test cricket Cheteshwar Pujara and KL Rahul indulged into a friendly banter after registering a historic 3-0 win against Sri Lanka in the Test series.

The two right-handed top order batters have performed well in Sri Lanka too and gave India a good start.

The BCCI.TV shared a video in which the two cricketers threw insights about their love for FIFA and other sports, and the resolution Pujara has set for Rahul before celebrating his next birthday.

"It was my birthday resolution from Pujara, in which he sent me a video saying he wants me to improve my FIFA skills on PlayStation and, secondly I slam a double ton in Test cricket before I celebrate my 26th birthday. So, the second resolution has been fulfilled and hopefully, the double hundred will come soon too," said a happy Rahul.

Taking a slight dig at the Karnataka batsman's injury prone career, Pujara said he always sees the former's footprints whenever he visits the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

To this dig, Rahul rued that he too never enjoyed spending time in rehab but admitted that's a part and parcel of a sportsperson's life.

"I don't enjoy going to the NCA for rehabilitation, it's been a tough time going to NCA, you know. I mean I enjoy going to NCA for training and practice but not for rehab.

"Unfortunately, I've had a few injuries on the way and I think, I hold you equally responsible for that because you don't share short-leg duties with me enough and you abuse the youngsters and making me field there all day," replied Rahul jokingly.

Pujara, however, completely rejected his teammate's accusations and interrupted him by saying the latter has improved as a brilliant short-leg fielder.

"He's among the best short-leg fielders in the team, so I really don't accept his accusations," said Pujara.

Rahul, however, went on saying that Pujara is the best fielder at short-leg and wants him to take this responsibility off his shoulders and that he's been asking him (Pujara) to stand there all day.

In another friendly accusation that Rahul made from this incident that the seniors are exploiting the juniors.

"This clearly indicates that the senior-junior divide is still there in the team and the youngsters are being exploited," joked Rahul.

Pujara, however, brought an end to the age-old debate saying the fielding coach will be in a better position to speak on this.
