The Gujarat Titans have confirmed their retained list for the IPL 2025 season, focusing on their core players such as Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan to maintain continuity and consistency.
Along with Gill and Rashid, young batter Sai Sudharsan as well as uncapped stars Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia have also been retained. Although the official retention list is yet to be released by Gujarat Titans, according to major media sources, these players have been earmarked by the GT hierarchy for keeping in their roster.

Leading the retention charge is Shubman Gill, who was named captain in 2024 after Hardik Pandya’s shift to Mumbai Indians. Gill’s retention was no surprise, with the star opener proving indispensable. Gill reportedly accepted a slightly reduced salary package to facilitate the Titans' strategic spending, allowing the franchise a substantial auction purse to strengthen their roster.
Joining Gill is Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, arguably one of the most influential spinners in T20 cricket. Retained for his game-changing bowling prowess, Rashid adds depth and versatility to the Titans’ bowling attack.
The Titans have also placed trust in Sai Sudharsan, a promising young batter from Tamil Nadu whose performances, including a stunning 96 in the 2023 IPL Final, underscored his potential. This retention decision reflects a calculated long-term investment, especially over veterans like Mohammed Shami and David Miller, whose age and recent fitness concerns may have influenced the franchise’s decision.
Gujarat opted to retain two uncapped players: Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan. Known for his clutch performances, Tewatia has shown an ability to turn games with both bat and ball. His finishing capabilities make him a valuable asset in the lower order.
The selection of Shahrukh Khan over other domestic talents is intriguing. Though his IPL performances haven’t fully matched his potential, Gujarat’s investment suggests confidence in his ability to evolve.
