His unique ability as a left-arm bowler, capable of swinging the ball in both directions, adds a valuable dimension to our bowling attack-one that is increasingly rare in the auction landscape. Having witnessed Yash's impressive performance last season, we are eager to secure this crucial role and support his continued development as a key player for RCB"

Mo Bobat, RCB Director of Cricket, said, "We're all too aware of the need to establish a strong Indian core to our team going into the 2025 IPL season, and we feel that our retention decisions are a significant step in the right direction. It's great to continue Virat's lengthy association with RCB, I'm confident that a new group of players will benefit hugely from his inspirational and infectious energy, and his commitment to high standards."
The Punjab Kings announced their player retentions on Thursday ahead of the IPL Mega auction. The Kings have chosen Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh as their retained players.
Speaking on the same, head coach Ricky Ponting said "Prabhsimran is someone who we have invested in and have great hopes for. Shashank's skillsets are in high demand and after his breakthrough performances, it was difficult to ignore him. We will target bringing back some of our other players at the auction."
Shashank, who scored 354 runs in 14 matches for Punjab Kings in IPL 2024, batted at a strike rate of 164.65, expressed his delight and said, "I am grateful to the team for showing faith in me again. I am looking forward to working with Coach Ponting and to keep contributing to our team's success."

IPL 2025: Revised Retention and Financial Policies
Teams can retain up to six players, either directly or through the Right to Match (RTM) card, allowing for a maximum of five capped players (Indian and overseas) and two uncapped players. The increased salary cap now provides teams with an INR 120 crore auction purse.
Additional performance pay and match fees have risen to INR 146 crore for 2025, projected to reach INR 157 crore by 2027. Each player will also receive INR 7.5 lakh per game, a first-time inclusion in the league.
New Eligibility Rules Spark Discussion
The updated eligibility guidelines have added intrigue to this retention phase. A capped Indian player can now be reclassified as uncapped if they have not represented India or held a BCCI contract in the past five years.
Foreign players must register for the auction, facing a two-season suspension if they withdraw after selection. As IPL teams finalize their retention lists, fans should anticipate strategic moves that will shape the league's 2025 season and beyond.
