Hardik Pandya lands in trouble over controversial tweet on BR Ambedkar from a parody account

Jodhpur, March 22: India all-rounder Hardik Pandya seems to have landed in an unnecessary trouble following his alleged tweet over the architect of Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar.

In a controversial tweet, the Baroda all-rounder criticised Dr Ambedkar for drafting the concept of reservation in the Constitution of India.

As per reports, Pandya's alleged tweet read, "Which Ambedkar??? The one who drafted a cross law and constitution or the one who spread the disease called reservation in the country."

As per a report published in NDTV, a Jodhpur court has directed the police to file a First Investigation Report against the cricketer.

Responding to a petition of DR Meghwal, who claims to have said that Pandya's tweet was offensive and hurt the sentiment of people, the court ordered the FIR to be filed against the cricketer.

But a copy of the complaint shows that the comment was never posted from the 24-year-old cricketer's verified Twitter handle.

While Hardik Pandya's twitter handle is @hardikpandya7, the court order is based on a complaint that refers to the handle @sirhardik3777.

"We are yet to receive the orders of the court and once we get it, I will be in a position to comment," Rajesh Yadav, a police officer in Jaipur was quoted by NDTV as saying. "Further action will be taken according to law," he added.

However, according to the petitioner, Meghwal, who claims to be a member of the Rashtriya Bhim Sena, has reportedly said in his complaint that such a comment by a leading cricketer is derogatory and sets a bad precedent.

The court has asked the police to register a case under a law on crimes against SC/STs (Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes).
