Centurion, Sep 15: Explosive South Africa wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen unleashed his beast mode to slam his third ODI century and guided his team to a mammoth 416 for the loss of five wickets in the fourth one-day against Australia.
In the fourth one-dayer against Australia on Friday (September 15), Klaasen once again showcased his big-hitting prowess and notched up a fine ton off just 57 deliveries against Australia at Supersport Park in Centurion.

Klaasen slammed the joint-fifth fastest ODI century from a Protea batter in the ODIs after AB de Villiers (31 vs West Indies in 2015), Mark Boucher (44 vs ZIM in 2006), AB de Villiers (52 vs WI in 2015), Heinrich Klaasen (54 vs WI in 2023), AB de Villiers (57 vs IND in 2015).
In the match against Australia, Klaasen walked into the middle at number five and posted the highest total in the 50 overs format. Klaasen's 174 is the second-highest ODI score from a batter at number five or below after former India cricketer Kapil Dev's 175 against Zimbabwe in 1983.
175* - Kapil Dev (IND) vs ZIM, Tunbridge Wells, 1983

170* - Luke Ronchi (NZ) vs SL, Dunedin, 2015
162* - AB de Villiers (SA) vs WI, Sydney, 2015
The right-handed South Africa batter also shared a mammoth 222-run partnership with David Miller in the game in the match against Australia at Centurion. The highest partnership at the fifth wicket or below is between New Zealand's Grant Elliot and Luke Ronchi against Sri Lanka in Dunedin in 2015.
267* - Grant Elliott, Luke Ronchi (NZ) vs SL, Dunedin, 2015
256* - JP Duminy, David Miller (SA) vs ZIM, Hamilton, 2015

223 - Mohammad Azharuddin, A Jadeja (IND) vs SL, Colombo RPS, 1997
222 - Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller (SA) vs AUS, Centurion, 2023
Klaasen's knock against Australia was studded with thirteen maximums and made mince meat of opposition bowlers as South Africa posted in excess of 400 for the record seventh time in the ODIs.
16 - AB de Villiers vs WI, Johannesburg, 2015
13 - Heinrich Klaasen vs AUS, Centurion, 2023
11 - AB de Villiers vs IND, Mumbai WS, 2015
11 - Quinton de Kock vs AUS, Centurion, 2016
10 - Mark Boucher vs ZIM, Potchefstroom, 2006
Reacting over his knock against Australia, Klaasen claimed he was disappointed to get dismissed for a duck in the previous game and today he's happy to bounce back in style.
"It's incredible, I had the shock of the day the other night (dismissed for a duck), but nice to bounce back immediately. Enjoyed putting up that partnership with Miller. We (himself and van der Dussen) needed to allow a few overs, the new grass has meant the ball isn't going quicker and then Rassie said we had to start having a go," Klaasen said.
