Eighteen days after breaking the 11-year-old record to achieve the highest score ever in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad once again made history on Wednesday (April 15). They achieved the highest team score in IPL history for the second time in the IPL 2024 season.
In the 30th match of IPL 2024, SRH surpassed their record of 277/3 against Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), led by Pat Cummins, SRH amassed 287/3 in their allotted 20 overs.

In their match against MI, SRH capitalised on quickfire fifties from Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Heinrich Klaasen to reach a total of 277/3 in 20 overs. Facing RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Head smashed a century while Klaasen contributed with a quick fifty. Explosive cameos from Abhishek Sharma (34), Abdul Samad (32*), and Markram (32*) further bolstered their team's score, surpassing their previous record.
On Wednesday, April 3, Kolkata Knight Riders achieved the third-highest total in IPL history by scoring 272/7 against Delhi Capitals at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
RCB had previously held the record for the highest team score in IPL history, posting 263/5 during the 2013 season in a league stage match against the now-defunct Pune Warriors India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
On the historic date of April 23, 2013, RCB showcased a remarkable performance with Chris Gayle's unbeaten 175 off 66 balls, leading them to one of the highest totals in IPL history. Gayle also contributed with bowling figures of 2 for 5, securing a commanding 130-run victory for the Bengaluru-based side.
