'Vintage' MS Dhoni says he can play beyond 2019 World Cup

When asked about his chances of featuring in the 2019 World Cup, Dhoni said that "two years is a long time" and that a "lot can change" in that period.

The 35-year-old cricketer from Ranchi said he has become a vintage car who needs a lot of caring but didn't rule out the possibility of playing till 2019.

"There's is nothing called 100 per cent. The reason being, two years is a long time. A lot can change in two years, especially seeing India Cricket Team's schedule, it is a very tough schedule. After that you become a vintage car. A lot of caring is needed," he said.

Dhoni, who gave up the captaincy of India's limited overs format earlier this year, said he "can easily go beyond the 2019 World Cup."

"Looking at everything how it is going through, definitely. But as I said, a lot can happen in two years. Yes, the way I am today, I can easily go beyond the 2019 World Cup," Dhoni added.

Dhoni, who no longer plays Test cricket, is working very hard to keep himself.

The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman led the Jharkhand cricket team in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy. The team under his leadership played semi-final but failed to make it to the final.

It was Dhoni's experience as captain and his presence in the dressing room that inspired a young Jharkhand side perform so well in the domestic season of 2016-17.

Dhoni was closely associated with his state team during Ranji Trophy as he acted as their mentor.
