Virender Sehwag has said that he turned down the offer to play in the Big Bash League (BBL) by ridiculing the amount he was being offered in the Australia-based T20 tournament.
Speaking on Club Prairie Fire Podcast, Sehwag said BBL offered him 100,000 dollars to participate in the tournament, however he ridiculed the offer by saying he spends that money on a single holiday.

Virender Sehwag was answering a question by Adam Gilchrist who asked if Indian players (active) would ever be allowed to play in overseas leagues.
"No, Don't need, we are rich people, we don't go to poor countries for other leagues. I still remember when I was dropped from the Indian team, I was playing IPL, then I got an offer from BBL that I should participate in Big Bash, I said okay how much money, they said $100,000. I said I can spend that money in my holidays, even last night bill was more than $100,000," Virender Sehwag said on Club Prairie Fire Podcast.
“Going out for one month playing Big bash or The Hundred, where you get only that $100,000, maybe $200,000. If you talk about millions, yes then I’m interested otherwise no,” he added.
Gilchrist also backed Sehwag's statement and said, “We spent that much on tequila last night”.
Virender Sehwag narrated another incident in which he revealed why he could not be part of the Sky Sports expert panel. The former India cricketer, who is part of the Jio Cinema commentary panel in IPL 2024, asked for a fee of Rs 10 lakh per day.
“So once once I got a call from Sky Sports that 'We’ll love to have you in in our panel.’ I said 'You can’t afford me’. But they said, 'No, give me your price’. I said 'You can’t afford me but they said 'Please give us the price’. Then I said okay '£10,000 a day’ and they said, 'Yes you’re right we can’t'”.
