Here are the highlights from the game between New Zealand and Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

Birmingham, June 2: Kane Williamson's brilliant century and Josh Hazlewood's six-wicket haul went in vain as the second group B match between New Zealand and Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 was washed out due to rain here on Friday (June 2).

The match was repeatedly interrupted by rain, forcing the officials to reduce the number of overs on more than one occasion. (Match report)

Electing to bat first, New Zealand had put up a healthy total of 291 runs in 45 overs. Their innings had been shortened to 46 overs after play was held up for around an hour and a half due to rain.

Further rain during the innings break saw the target being revised to 235 runs off 33 overs.

Australia had reached 53/3 in nine overs when the proceedings were interrupted by rain once again before the match was abandoned for good.

Both teams got one point each.

Earlier, New Zealand skipper Williamson smashed a brilliant 96-ball 100 as be brought up his career's ninth ODI ton and first against Australia.

Williamson led the Kiwi charge with a solid innings of 100 runs before being run out. His 97-ball innings included eight boundaries and three sixes.

Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood picked up 6 wickets to restrict New Zealand to 291 and prevented them from playing full 46 overs.

# Chasing a revised target of 235 from 33 overs following two rain interruptions, Australia were struggling at 53 for three in nine overs when heavens opened up.
