Chasing a huge total of 321, Sri Lankan batting line-up achieved the total in 48.4 overs with seven wickets in hand.

This was their highest successful run chase against India in ODIs.

Half-centuries from Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka helped them cross the line and register their first win the tournament.

The duo dominated the Indian bolwers to add 159 runs between them and lay the foundation of a successful run chase.

Later, skipper Angelo Mathews struck a fine half-century along with valuable contributions from Kusal Parera and Asela Gunaratne.

Earlier Dhawan and Sharma set an Indian record as they became the first pair to share three consecutive 100-plus partnerships in one-day internationals.

With another hundred-plus stand between them in the match against Sri Lanka, the right-hand and left-handed opening pair proved how dangerous they can be when they are set.
