The Karnataka batter's sublime innings (102 off 64 balls) unfolded during the final league match of the showpiece event at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. A Homecoming Century For KL Rahul

For Rahul, this century marked a significant moment as he reached the three-figure mark on his home ground. The Karnataka cricketer, who honed his skills in Bengaluru and at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during his formative years, showcased his prowess with a masterful innings.

The very venue where he became a force to reckon with in the IPL during his tenure with the local franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, witnessed a full-circle moment for Rahul.

The fact that his knock came at Chinnaswamy, which is also the home ground of Dravid, only makes the occasion special. Dravid - the former India cricketer and one of the best batters to have graced the game - gave a standing ovation to his namesake for reaching the milestone.

The spectators at the iconic venue which has a special wall dedicated to Dravid - The Wall of Indian Cricket - were left stunned when their favourite Virat Kohli was dismissed against the run of play after scoring a fine fifty but the other local lad didn't disappoint them with his belligerent knock.

Mammoth Partnership with Shreyas Iyer

Rahul's century was complemented by a staggering 208-run partnership with fellow centurion Shreyas Iyer. The duo's explosive batting laid the foundation for India's imposing total, leaving the opposition stunned. The right-handed pair exhibited a perfect blend of aggression and technique, treating the home crowd to a cricketing spectacle.

Exhibition of Cricketing Artistry

KL Rahul's innings was a true exhibition of cricketing artistry. Initially, he dominated the Dutch bowling attack with precise cuts, drives, and on-drives, showcasing his ability to rotate the strike and punish loose deliveries. The innings began with a strategic approach, with Rahul dropping anchor early on.

However, as his eyes settled in, he unleashed his aggressive intent, thrilling the crowd with trademark shots, including a memorable no-look six that sent the Chinnaswamy Stadium into a frenzy.

Wristwork Mastery From KL Rahul

Known for his stylish and versatile stroke play, Rahul's wristwork was exceptional throughout his innings. Batting at a remarkable strike rate of 159.4, he exhibited a wide array of shots, including a square drive that yielded him 18 runs, showcasing his proficiency in all aspects of the game. His innings featured 32 singles, one double, 11 fours, and 4 sixes, with a significant 75% of his shots under control, highlighting his calculated and risk-averse approach.

Team Before Self For KL Rahul
