Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has named his top-five title contenders for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, starting October 5. The top ten teams from the world will participate in the marquee competition to battle it out for the coveted trophy.
Defending champions England, Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are the top teams in the global tournament, which will be held in a single round-robin format.

Experts have started predicting the top title contenders in this year's ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be held in India. According to Ganguly, India is poised to be a strong contender in the upcoming World Cup.
The legendary India cricketer - who led the Men In Blue to several iconic triumphs - believes Team India has it in it alongside Australia, England, Pakistan, and New Zealand to make it far in the tournament.
"I believe that Australia will take one of the top spots. England and Pakistan are also teams to watch out for. And let's not forget about New Zealand," Ganguly told media persons.
When asked about his personal top five teams at the moment, Ganguly replied, "Australia, England, India, Pakistan, and New Zealand."
As Rishabh Pant continues to recover from an accident, Ganguly suggested that Ishan Kishan could be a suitable choice as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
"Pant is undoubtedly the best wicketkeeper in our country. However, Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul (depending on his fitness) are also strong contenders. Both players are likely on Rohit Sharma's and KL Rahul's minds," said Ganguly.
Ganguly expressed his admiration for Ishan Kishan's ability to change the game for any team he plays for. He believes that Rahul Dravid will consider including him in future plans.
"I personally like Ishan Kishan because he has a knack for turning things around on the field. I am confident that Rahul Dravid will keep him in mind when making selections," concluded Ganguly.
