Dubai, Feb 14: Mohammad Nabi, the senior Afghanistan cricketer, ended the dominance of Bangladesh star cricketer Shakib Al Hasan as the number one ranked ODI all-rounder in the latest ICC rankings.
This remarkable achievement at the age of 39 years and one month makes Nabi the oldest player to reign at the summit of the ICC ODI all-rounders' table, surpassing the previous record held by Tillakaratne Dilshan, who achieved the feat at 38 years and 8 months in June 2015.

Shakib Al Hasan's reign at the top, spanned an impressive 1739 days (from May 7, 2019), when the Bangladesh star took over from Rashid Khan, until February 9). It marked the longest unbroken period anyone has held the top spot in the ODI all-rounder rankings. However, a combination of an ongoing injury concern and Nabi's recent stellar performances led to a shift in the rankings hierarchy.
While Nabi's rise to the top spot headlines the latest ICC rankings, other notable developments have unfolded across various categories. South Africa's spinner Keshav Maharaj maintains his stronghold at the pinnacle of the ODI bowlers' list.
Sri Lankan duo Wanindu Hasaranga and Dilshan Madushanka have made significant strides in the rankings, with Hasaranga climbing 14 spots to reach the equal 26th position, and Madushanka advancing four places to secure the 33rd spot.
Nabi's ascension to the pinnacle of the ICC ODI all-rounders' rankings came on the back of a stellar performance in the opening match of Afghanistan's three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
His innings of 136 not only propelled Afghanistan to victory but also earned him a wicket in the same match, catapulting him one place higher to the seventh spot in the latest rankings for ODI bowlers.
In the Test rankings, minimal changes were observed, with India's pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah retaining his supremacy as the top-ranked bowler. Ravindra Jadeja, the dynamic Indian all-rounder, continues to assert his dominance in the Test all-rounders' rankings as he gears up for his return in the third Test against England, commencing Thursday.
