India pacer Mohammed Siraj, who picked four wickets in an over and completed his five-wicket haul in just 16 balls in the Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka, became the number one ranked ODI bowler in the world on Wednesday, September 2.
Mohammed Siraj last occupied the position in March this year. The Hyderabad-born cricketer made a handsome jump of eight spots to pip the likes of Hazlewood, Trent Boult, Rashid Khan and Mitchell Starc in the latest rankings.

Siraj picked a total of 10 wickets at an average of 12.2 in the Asia Cup 2023. He has been rested for the first two ODIs of the upcoming three-match series against Australia from September 22.
The Afghanistan spin duo of Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid jumped to No.4 and No.5 respectively. They were the only others to go up in the top 10. India spinner Kuldeep Yadav has dropped three places to ninth and is the only other Indian bowler in the top-ten list.

Further, England opener Dawid Malan finished the 4-match ODI series against New Zealand as the highest run-scorer with 277 runs at an average of 92.33 and a strike-rate of 105.72. The 36-year-old batter, who spent 357 days as the No.1 batter in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings earlier in his career, is placed at a career-best 13th place in the ODI rankings.
