ICC Test Rankings: Ashwin-Jadeja remain No. 1 and 2 in bowling; Rohit jumps to ninth, Jaiswal makes big gain

Dubai, Jul 26: Young India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal maintained his ascent in the latest ICC Test Rankings while captain Rohit Sharma jumped one spot to ninth in the list released by the global cricket body on Wednesday (July 26).

Jaiswal - the 23-year-old young India opener - rose 11 places to 63rd on the back of his 57 and 38 in the drawn second Test match against West Indies in Port of Spain. The Mumbaikar now has 466 rating points in just three innings since his Test debut.

Rohit, who had scores of 80 and 57 in the second Test after a match-winning century in the opening match, still remains the highest-ranked Indian Test batter. The right-handed batter from Mumbai has 759 points, and is tied ninth with his Sri Lankan counterpart Dimuth Karunaratne.

Another India batter in the top fifteen rankings are Rishabh Pant, who has slipped one slot to 12th place with 743 points, and Virat Kohli, who remains in 14th place with 733 points. Kohli slammed a sublime century in the second Test against West Indies and notched up his 29th ton in red-ball format, emulating Don Bradman. It was also Kohli's 76th hundred in his 500th international game.

Formerly top-ranked batters Marnus Labuschagne of Australia and Joe Root of England have made their way back towards the top, progressing three places each to reach second and third positions respectively.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson - who is still out of action from competitive cricket for quite some time - remains the number one batter in Tests with 883 rating points.

England opener Zak Crawley - who slammed a quickfire 189 off 182 balls in the fourth Ashes 2023 Test in Manchester - is up 13 places to 35th. His compatriot, Harry Brook has risen to 11th position and while Jonny Bairstow - who was hung at 99* in the fourth Test - has advanced three places to joint-19th.
