Shafali Verma Dominates Women's T20I Rankings

The aggressive opener from Haryana as already struck three half-centuries in quick succession - an unbeaten 69 off 34 balls in the second T20I in Visakhapatnam, followed by scores of 79 not out off 42 balls and 79 off 46 balls in the third and fourth matches in Thiruvananthapuram. Her consistency at the top has been central to the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side's dominance in the series.

The Women in Blue lead the series 4-0 with the fifth and final match of the series will be played in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday (December 30). The hosts will be aiming to complete a 5-0 whitewash against the Chamari Athapaththu-led side.

Big Jump for Renuka Singh in Latest Rankings

Renuka Singh Thakur also enjoyed a significant rise, jumping eight places to joint sixth in the bowling rankings. The right-arm pacer, who has previously reached a career-high ranking of third, delivered a match-winning spell of 4 for 21 in the third T20I. That performance helped India secure an eight-wicket win and seal the series, underlining Renuka's importance with the new ball. Meanwhile, Deepti Sharma continues to hold the top spot in the T20I bowling rankings after claiming it in last week's update.

Vaishnavi Sharma Storms ICC Rankings With Debut Series

India's spin depth was also rewarded in the latest rankings. Left-arm spinner Shree Charani climbed 17 places to 52nd, while fellow left-armer Vaishnavi Sharma made one of the biggest leaps of the update, surging 390 places to 124th in her first international series. The rankings movement comes with India holding a commanding 4-0 lead in the five-match series.

These gains are timely for India as they continue to assess combinations and build depth ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.

Sri Lanka also saw a few positives despite their struggles in the series. Left-handed opener Hasini Perera jumped 114 places to 71st among batters after scores of 22, 25 and 33 in the past week, while Kavisha Dilhari edged up three spots to 79th.
