Dubai, Feb 17: MI Emirates clinched the title of the DP World ILT20 Season 2 with a spectacular victory over Dubai Capitals, driven by Nicholas Pooran's unbeaten 57 runs off 27 balls and Andre Fletcher's aggressive 53 off 37 balls on Saturday (February 17).
This victory marked a historic moment in the tournament as MI Emirates emerged as the new champions under the leadership of Pooran.

The match, held at the Dubai International Stadium, witnessed Pooran's explosive innings, characterised by six sixes and two boundaries, supported by Fletcher's powerful performance. Openers Muhammad Waseem and Kusal Perera set a formidable foundation with their aggressive contributions, leading to a record score of 208 for 3 in 20 overs.
Dubai Capitals faced a daunting task chasing the mammoth total set by MI Emirates. Despite commendable efforts from players like Tom Banton and Sam Billings, they could only manage 163 for 7 in 20 overs. Trent Boult and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth starred with the ball for MI Emirates, securing two wickets each.
MI Emirates' victory earned them a substantial winners' prize of $700,000 (USD), while Dubai Capitals, the runners-up, received $300,000 (USD).
Nicholas Pooran, awarded the Player of the Match, praised the team's openers for laying a solid foundation for the victory, emphasizing the importance of understanding the game situation while batting.
Despite the defeat, Dubai Capitals' captain Sam Billings acknowledged MI Emirates' exceptional performance and reflected on the learning experiences gained from playing cricket in diverse cultures.

The tournament also recognized individual performances, with James Vince emerging as the highest run-scorer, Waqar Salamkheil as the highest wicket-taker, Muhammad Waseem as the best UAE player, and Sikandar Raza as the Most Valuable Player. Additionally, Andre Fletcher received the award for the DP World Biggest Six, while Nicholas Pooran secured the DP World Most 6s of the season. The Cycle Hub Catch of the season was awarded to Sam Billings for his remarkable one-handed effort.
