Rohit Sharma

Rohit stayed back from the rest of squad for the birth of his second child. The India skipper announced the birth of his second child, a baby boy, who was born on Friday (November 15).

And now Rohit has expressed his wish to stay with his family for some more days. The 37-year-old will miss the Perth Test but is expected to join ahead of the 2nd Test in Adelaide.

Amid Rohit's absence, Jasprit Bumrah will lead the Indian team in Perth. Gautam Gambhir and the think tank have plenty to chalk out before the first match as there are likely a few more absentees in the India squad.

Shubman Gill has suffered a finger injury and is ruled out of the Perth Test. KL Rahul is doubtful with an elbow injury while Virat Kohli also underwent a scan after getting hit during the simulation. India may hand Abhimanyu Easwaran his debut in the first match.

India have a plethora of ultimatums hanging on their head in this series. After three defeats against New Zealand, their WTC Final hopes are in jeopardy and the Indian team will have to be at their optimum best to ensure their place in the final. Also the head coach Gautam Gambhir may be relieved off Test duties if India's result goes haywire down under.
