Kanpur, Sep 27: The second Test match between India and Bangladesh at the iconic Green Park Stadium in Kanpur couldn't start on time on Friday (September 27) due to the inclement weather.
Toss for the match is scheduled to be held at 9:30 AM, local time, but early morning rain and bad weather forecast all day will likely threaten the day's play. The ground staff has been working very hard to ready the ground but heavy overcast conditions will keep them at their toes all through the game.

Around 7:30 AM, the groundsmen started peeling off the covers from the pitch and the cover region, however, sixty per cent of the ground remained under wraps as the two super-soppers available at the venue were working hard to remove the water from the outfield area.

When the play stopped Bangladesh were 107/3 in 35 overs. Mominul Haque (40*) was batting along with Mushfiqur Rahim (6*) and they had already shared a partnership of 27 runs for the fourth wicket. Akash Deep has so far picked up two wickets while R Ashwin bagged one wicket in the match so far for Team India.

It is pouring heavily in Kanpur and the play has been stopped at Green Park. The play stopped due to bad light and it started drizzling. By the time ground staff covered the pitch it started getting heavier and took the shape of a heavy downpour. The groundsmen are working tirelessly to cover the entire ground.
Team India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first against Bangladesh.
Update! The toss will be held at 10 AM and the match will begin at 10:30 AM.
Virat Kohli has walked into the middle to begin his warm-up drills and the spectators can't keep calm. A loud cheer from the fans as the star cricketer enters. Bangladesh players have also started their warm-ups. Tents for the warm-up drills are also being erected by the ground staff. If the rain gods stay way, we might get some more good news from the middle. Apparently, there is dampness on the field near the boundary and both the super-soppers are working in full flow.
Good News from the middle! The covers are completely removed and players are making their way into the field for warm-ups.
The last of the covers from the ground are being peeled off by the ground staff but the toss has been delayed due to the wet outfield. Gautam Gambhir and Morne Morkel are still present near the pitch.
Almost 60 per cent of the covers have been removed. India head coach Gautam Gambhir and his support staff are on the pitch and they are having a chat. Probably they are trying to assess the pitch and a decision on what to do after winning the toss is being discussed.

Ravindra Jadeja was seen having a long chat with former India head coach Ravi Shastri and Murali Karthik in the middle even as groundsmen continued with their job. Fans also started arriving at the venue after the administration opened the gates around 8:45 AM.
The presenters and commentators are in the middle to have a look at the pitch which is on offer for this match. The pitch report has also been recorded.

It rained last night and even in the morning, there was a fresh spell of drizzle in Kanpur. The entire ground was covered by the ground staff and the pitch was opened only around 7:30 AM to prepare for the day's play. However, whether or not the match will begin on time is a question on everybody's mind. By the looks of it, we are not going to see a timely start today.
Hello, good morning and welcome to the live weather updates blog for the opening day of the second and final Test match between India and Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur.
The good thing about this venue is that it is completely covered just like the Eden Gardens and the drainage system at this venue is fine, which would ensure we get to see some action on the opening day if the rain gods stay away.
On Friday (Day 1), intermittent rain showers and cloudy skies are predicted throughout the day. Thunderstorms are predicted at midnight, early morning around 5:00 AM, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and then 4:00 AM to 5:00 AM. It will remain cloudy throughout the day.
Saturday (Day 2) will also see rain showers and mostly cloudy conditions. Sunday (Day 3) may have some light morning rain, but the rest of the day should be mostly cloudy. The final two days of the match (Monday and Tuesday) are expected to be dry and cloudy.
Team India won the first Test against Bangladesh by 280 runs to go 1-nil up in the two-match series and would be aiming to claim another win to finish on a high and enter the three-match home series against New Zealand on a confident note.
