The highly anticipated first Test between India and New Zealand at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru didn't witness a riveting action on the first day's play. The toss was delayed before the opening day was unfortunately called off due to relentless rain, much to the disappointment of the fans.
What started as a murky day ended without a ball being bowled. The weather has been less than favourable over the last few days, with unusually cold and dreary conditions gripping the "Silicon Valley of India".

The rain was so persistent that even the pitch curator was not able to inspect the playing surface for three days, making it literally not possible to prepare for play. There were occasional hopes of a break in the downpour and the wet outfield, soggy conditions meant that the restart of the game would require maximum drying time. However, it was not possible, given the circumstances.
While the rain put a damper on the first day's play, it didn’t stop the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) social media handle from having a bit of banter. They took to X (formerly Twitter) to playfully tease SpaceX CEO Elon Musk about the frustrating weather.
"Dear Elon Musk, catching rockets and all is cool only. But can you able to do this? We need some cricket in uru (Bengaluru). Yours peasly, Mr. Nags,” RCB cheekily posted. The tweet went viral in no time on the social media portal and one of the fans jokingly said, "He's (Elon Musk) preparing the ground on Mars. Don't know whether it's batting or bowling pitch."
The humorous post referenced SpaceX's recent history-making feat, where a 232-foot booster rocket was caught in mid-air after the launch of the colossal 400-foot-tall Starship rocket in Texas. This marked a significant milestone for space exploration and showed another step forward in Musk's ambitious space endeavours.
With the first day completely washed out due to rain, the fans' attention has now totally turned to the remaining days. Meanwhile, the teams now face the challenge of squeezing as much action as possible into the remaining four days.
