India's batting prowess is in full show in their semifinal against New Zealand. The hosts are up against New Zealand in the semifinal of the World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium.
After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma chose to bat first and provided a fantastic start. The India captain put on a destructive show against the Kiwi pacers and scored a stormy 47 off just 29 balls.

After that, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli took over the duties and were building the partnership quite superbly.
But during the 21st over, India captain Rohit Sharma sent a message to Virat Kohli at the crease via Ravichandran Ashwin. The veteran off-spinner came to the ground and had some instructions to pass on to Kohli. Later, the India captain was seen giving a thumbs-up from the dressing room.
Rohit Sharma's message to Virat Kohli or Shubman Gill is still unclear. Shubman Gill left field retired hurt moments later the message was sent.
Following an animated chat with Ashwin, the message from Rohit to the middle has gained a lot of speculation.
Was the India captain not happy with the way Virat Kohli was batting? Virat Kohli was batting on 26 off 35 balls and was going at a very slow pace. Hence perhaps the message from the captain was to up the ante as India are aiming to score a mammoth total.
Shubman Gill was already cramping on the field and was in discomfort. The sultry weather conditions in Mumbai took the toll on him and perhaps the Indian captain wanted to take no risk. Thus his message was to let Shubman go off the field if the player could not continue.
