Imran Khan, aged 71, has been incarcerated in the high-security Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi since September of the previous year. His imprisonment stemmed from a conviction in the Toshakhana corruption case, following which he was transferred from District Jail Attock. In a recent appearance before the Supreme Court on May 30, Khan lamented his solitary confinement and restrictions on meetings with lawyers and family members.

However, the government swiftly responded to Khan's allegations, presenting a detailed account of the facilities provided to him in prison. The government refuted claims of solitary confinement, showcasing photographs of Khan's cell equipped with amenities such as a TV, a separate kitchen, and a study table. Furthermore, a list of individuals who have met with Khan was provided, countering assertions of isolation.

In March, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were formalized to facilitate meetings with the convicted former premier. PTI leaders were designated as focal persons for coordinating visits to the jail, ensuring adherence to strict protocols.

Despite government assurances, the controversy surrounding Khan's imprisonment persists. PTI denounced the government's portrayal of Khan's living conditions, highlighting the discrepancy between claims and reality. They emphasized Khan's lack of complaint regarding his confinement conditions, casting doubt on official statements.
