KL Rahul's performance on the second day of the first Test against South Africa underscored his ability to thrive in adverse conditions. With 14 fours and four sixes, he not only carried forward his fine form from the overnight score of 70 but also added 31 runs in the morning session, steering India away from a potential collapse. KL Rahul Coping with Criticism and Personal Struggles

In his insightful interview as part of the 'Believe' series, Rahul opened up about how he dealt with external pressures and criticisms during his lowest periods. Acknowledging that it's impossible to change people's opinions, he reflected on the impact of criticism during times when he wasn't in a great mental space.

"You can't really change people. You're allowed to say what you feel, and a lot of it at that time felt more hurtful than it actually was probably. Now looking back, I feel I could have looked at it very differently, but also a lot of it has to do with where you are personally. The 'Believe' series provided a platform for Rahul to share his innermost thoughts on his cricketing journey. The middle-order batter expressed gratitude for choosing a career path that he genuinely enjoys, emphasising that the challenges, injuries, and criticisms are an integral part of the game. Rahul's unwavering belief in his chosen path resonates as he navigates through the highs and lows of his career.

"There's always been something within me from a very early age, a voice or an energy that always felt right. Like I always felt I was in the right direction. As always, I am very grateful that I picked a career path that I really enjoy, and I wanted to do.

KL Rahul - Balancing the Good and the Bad

Reflecting on his journey, Rahul emphasised the importance of maintaining a balanced perspective, especially when facing challenges. He views both successes and failures as essential components of an individual's growth. For Rahul, the personal and professional aspects are intertwined, with strength gained on a personal level reflecting positively in his professional endeavors.

"So, every time I find myself in a position like Oh, what am I doing? Why am I going through these injuries? Or why are so many people criticising me? I always go back to thinking that this is what you wanted to do, so it's a part of your game."

The 31-year-old added further, "I believe that it's all part of the journey, and you need to take the good and the bad in a very balanced way. And it's all part of an individual's growing and journey to getting stronger as a person. And as you get stronger as a person, it reflects on what you do professionally."

This perspective provides valuable insight into the mindset of a cricketer who sees challenges as stepping stones to becoming a stronger individual and a better professional. Rahul's story is not just about the runs he scores on the field; it's a narrative of passion, perseverance, and unwavering belief in his chosen path.
