Mumbai, Sep 28: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday (September 28) announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, set to kick off on October 6.
Leading the squad is Suryakumar Yadav, who will be captaining a blend of fresh talent and seasoned campaigners. But there are some notable absentees as well.

One of the most exciting inclusions is Mayank Yadav, a rising pace sensation from Delhi, who made waves during the IPL 2024 season while playing for Lucknow Super Giants.
The right-arm pacer, known for his raw pace and accuracy, gets his first opportunity to represent the national team. His standout performances in the IPL have earned him widespread recognition, and fans will be eager to see how he fares on the international stage.
In addition to Mayank Yadav's debut, the squad also welcomes back mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy, who was pivotal during previous seasons but has seen limited appearances in recent times. Chakaravarthy's ability to turn the ball both ways has long been a valuable asset, and his return is expected to strengthen India's spin options.
Jitesh Sharma, the dynamic wicketkeeper-batter, also returns to the national fold. However, the primary wicketkeeping duties are expected to be shouldered by Sanju Samson, who did not feature in the Rest of India squad for the Irani Cup, indicating his pivotal role in the upcoming series.
Contrary to popular expectations, prolific young batters Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad have not been selected for the series. Both players have been regulars in India's T20 setup, but their exclusion has sparked curiosity among fans and analysts alike.
The spin department will also be missing the duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, who have been consistent features in India's T20I squads. Their absence paves the way for the younger spinners to showcase their skills.
India's all-rounder department boasts a solid mix of talent. Hardik Pandya, who has been a key player in India's limited-overs setup, is joined by Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, and the promising Nitish Kumar Reddy.
In the batting department, the skipper will be assisted by Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Samson and Jitesh, along with Parag. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube's roles will be crucial for team's balance and success against the Bangla Tigers in the series.
Leading the pace attack will be Punjab's left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh, who has become a regular feature in India's white-ball setup. He will be supported by Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav, forming a formidable pace trio.
Ravi Bishnoi, who has consistently impressed with his variations, will partner with Varun Chakaravarthy to spearhead India's spin department. Washington Sundar, known for his economical bowling and ability to bat down the order, completes the spin-bowling contingent.
The T20I series will kick off on October 6 in Gwalior, followed by the second match on October 9 in New Delhi, and the final game will be played in Hyderabad on October 12.
