KL Rahul rose from the ruins to star for India as the hosts beat Australia in the 1st ODI on Friday (March 17) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The home side won the match by 5 wickets and now have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
Australia were bundled out for 188 runs after being put into bat by Indian captain Hardik Pandya. Despite a decent start, the visitors collapsed remarkably as they lost their last six wickets for just 19 runs. In reply, India were in trouble as they lost four wickets for just 39 runs.
But KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya, and then Ravindra Jadeja batted brilliantly to take India home. Rahul shrugged off his dismal Test form and was the star with the bat for India, scoring an exquisite unbeaten 75 runs. Jadeja also remained unbeaten on 45 as the pair stitched 108 runs for the 6th wicket to give India their elusive win.
