After a gruelling four-match Test series, Team India and Australia will lock horns in six white-ball games, starting with the three-match ODI series on Friday (March 17) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
India won the Test series 2-1 and will be looking to do the same in the ODIs as well with Hardik Pandya set to lead the hosts in the series opener and Rohit Sharma returning to take over in the final two ODIs.
The Men in Blue will also see the likes of Washington Sundar, Umran Malik, Yuzvendra Chahal and Shardul Thakur link up with the rest of the squad for the ODIs.
The visitors, meanwhile, will be led by Steve Smith, who captained the side in Pat Cummins' absence. Like India, Australia too will have some new faces for the ODI series, with Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa joining the squad.
During the ODI series, some players have a chance to cross personal milestones in the 50-over format. Virat Kohli, Rohit and KL Rahul are approaching milestones for India, while Smith, Marsh and Travis Head are closing in on records for Australia.
Here is a look at players approaching milestones during India vs Australia ODI series:
The star India batter Kohli, who has scored 12813 runs in ODIs, will have the chance to become the fifth player to score 13000 runs in the format by scoring another 187 runs in the the remaining two matches.
If Kohli manages to score a hundred in all the three matches, he can go level with legendary Sachin Tendulkar for most hundreds in ODIs. He currently has 46 hundreds. Tendulkar has scored 49 hundreds in ODIs.
The Indian skipper has a chance to reach 10000 runs in ODIs in the remaining two matches. Rohit, who has scored 9782 runs in ODIs, just needs another 218 runs to reach the landmark. If he achieves the feat, Rohit will become the sixth Indian to complete 10000 runs in ODIs.
The stand-in Australia skipper Smith, who has scored 4939 runs in ODIs, is just 61 runs away from completing 5000 runs in the format.
While Rahul needs 55 runs to reach the milestone, Head needs another 172 runs and Marsh needs 105 runs to scored 2000 runs in ODIs.
