Virat Kohli hails 'memorable' team effort

Kohli has thanked the entire Indian Team for winning the Mumbai Test over England and clinching the 5-Test rubber 3-0, with match to go.

The 28-year-old aggressive India skipper also commended the team effort in Mumbai and termed it a memorable one. Kohli thanked all for their wishes and kind words which helped India seal the 5th consecutive series win under his leadership.

Kohli took to Twitter to share the image after winning at Wankhede where Team India took the victory lap after win.

"A team effort & a memorable one! Thank you everyone for the wishes & kind words. #Grateful πŸ˜‡," tweeted Kohli.

With the help of Kohli's mammoth innings, India managed to post 631 runs in the second innings and take 231-run lead. The lead ensured the hosts didn't have to come out and bat again as England were bundled out at 195.

Kohli showed a lot of character on fifth day of the Test match when Ravichandran Ashwin and James Anderson indulged in an altercation.

With England 9 wickets down, Anderson walked into bat and Ashwin targeted him with few words. Later, Indian captain Virat Kohli and umpire Marais Erasmus stepped in to calm things down.

Apparently, Ashwin was not happy with Anderson's comments on Kohli the previous day. The Englishman had questioned Kohli's batting technique outside of home conditions.

Kohli had said after the match that Ashwin did not use any bad words against Anderson. It was also a rare sight as Kohli, one who's known for giving it back to any provocation, was acting a the pacifier and trying to cool things off between Ashwin and Anderson.

"For the first time I was trying to calm things down, especially when he (James Anderson) is involved. Ashwin was not pleased with whatever he (Anderson) said something in the press. Ashwin told me on the ground. I had no clue about it. I did not know what to make of it. I was laughing about it but Ashwin wasn't too impressed. He (Ashwin) let him (Anderson) know, not using any bad words, honestly.

"I think he told him 'he was pretty disappointed' with what he said. 'It is important to accept defeat the way it is' and things like that. You know how Ashwin is. He can strike you well, to the point. He doesn't need to use bad words. That is exactly what happened. Later on I told 'James it is fine these things happen'. Let us move on with it," Kohli had explained about the incident.
