The match saw Jasprit Bumrah deliver a stunning bowling performance, turning the game in India's favour during the crucial final overs in what turned out to be a low-scoring affair on a much-dreaded New York pitch.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Pakistan's pacers put India under immediate pressure. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf each claimed three wickets, while Mohammad Amir added two more to his tally, restricting India to a modest total of 119 runs.

Rishabh Pant top-scored for India with a gritty 42, but his efforts were overshadowed by a lack of support from other batsmen. Despite being well-placed at 81 for 3 after 10 overs, India suffered a dramatic collapse, losing seven wickets for just 38 runs in the final nine overs.

Chasing 120, Pakistan started cautiously. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan looked to provide a solid foundation, but Babar's dismissal for 13, caught by Suryakumar Yadav off Bumrah, put Pakistan on the back foot.

Rizwan continued to anchor the innings, but Pakistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Fakhar Zaman (12) and Usman Khan (16) made starts but couldn't capitalize, leaving the chase finely balanced.

At 73 for 3 in the 13th over, Pakistan seemed in control, needing just 47 runs off 47 balls. However, Bumrah's return to the attack changed the game. He clean bowled Rizwan for 28 and removed Iftikhar Ahmed, ending with remarkable figures of 3 for 14 in his four overs. His spell created pressure that Pakistan couldn't recover from.

Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh also chipped in with vital wickets, with Pandya dismissing Shadab Khan (8) and Imad Wasim (1), and Arshdeep bowling a tense final over. Despite Naseem Shah's late heroics, hitting consecutive boundaries off Arshdeep, Pakistan fell short by six runs, finishing at 113 for 7 in their 20 overs.

The victory was a testament to India's resilient bowling and Bumrah's exceptional skill under pressure. This narrow win boosts India's confidence as they advance in the tournament, while Pakistan will need to regroup and address their batting vulnerabilities ahead of their next match.
