India Vs South Africa: Virat Kohli sledges Tabraiz Shamsi, banter caught on stump mic

Port Elizabeth, Feb 14: The stump mic has been recording some interesting conversations between players all through the ongoing ODI series between India and South Africa.

Match Scorecard

Veteran India cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been making the headlines for his suggestions caught on the stump mic, which the fans found very interesting to hear.

Listening to the conversation between the cricketers, fans and experts get a peek into what all goes through the minds of cricketers during the game.

The mics also help the referees keep a tab over verbal spats between players near the stumps which could be aimed at distracting the batsmen.

But, sometimes these mics also record some funny conversations between the close-in fielders and the batsmen.

A similar funny conversation was recorded by the mic during the fifth ODI when India skipper Virat Kohli had a banter with South African batsman Tabraiz Shamsi when the latter stepped into the middle for batting.

While bowling Shamsi had a go at the Indian skipper and the latter returned when the former came to bat.

Kohli, standing the slip cordon, was caught by the stump saying, "Chest pad Shammo (Shamsi), you have a chest pad on."

Shamsi has played with Kohli in his IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore hence the two know each other well.

Soon after Shamsi was dismissed as he tried to hit the bowler over the fence but was caught at long-on by Hardik Pandya. He was dismissed for a golden duck by Kuldeep Yadav.

India went on to win the game by 73 runs by restricting South Africa to 201 and took an unassailable 4-1 lead in the series.
