New Delhi, Aug 29: Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni silenced his critics with two back-to-back match-winning performances in the second and third ODIs against Sri Lanka.
The 36-year-old batsman lived up to the expectations of millions of fans as he reflected his ice cool attitude under crunch situation and once again proved why he's hailed as the best match finisher ever.
India were reeling under pressure in the second and third ODI as Sri Lankan bowlers dismantled the top-order. Even master of chase skipper Virat Kohli was dismissed cheaply in both the games, leaving the team under crisis.
But Dhoni, who averages 101.84 in successful run chases, had other plans and dug deep to ensure Men in Blue do not face the ignominy of a shambolic batting collapse. Dhoni scored 48* and 67* in the two games as India cruised towards victory.
It was Dhoni's sublime form with the bat, following which the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman's fans took to social media to condemn the observation of chief selector MSK Prasad in which he said the former is not an automatic choice for 2019 World Cup.
"Discussions happen about everybody. It is not just MS. When we pick, when we talk about combinations, we talk about everybody. You will also see in time to come."
Dhoni's chances of playing at the 2019 World Cup in England are still not entirely confirmed. "We will see, we will see. The legend that he is, we don't want to make it (rotations)... but yes we have a plan."
Prasad's observation, perhaps, didn't go down well with the fans of country's most popular cricketer. Following Dhoni's match-winning efforts fans took to Twitter to troll Prasad.
Here's how Dhoni's fans took a dig at the chairman of selectors:
