India Vs Sri Lanka: 'Hit man' Rohit Sharma talks about his stand with 'Ice man' MS Dhoni

New Delhi, Aug 28: Team India's opening batsman Rohit Sharma hailed 'super cool' MS Dhoni for their unbeaten 157-run stand during the third one-day international match against Sri Lanka.

Match scorecard

Riding over Rohit's 124* off 146 balls and Dhoni's unbeaten 86-ball 67 India registered a convincing 6-wicket win against Sri Lanka and clinch series.

The Mumbai batsman in a chat with teammate Jasprit Bumrah for the bcci.tv revealed the secret behind his mammoth partnership with the Ranchi dasher.

"Obviously it is not a good feeling when you see wickets falling at the other end. But we always knew that one big partnership was required at that point. We saw it even in the last game that one big partnership and we won the game. That was the talk and that was the idea to try and create a partnership and yes MS Dhoni has been such an experienced player in that situation.

"He has batted in that situation so many times and bailed the team out. So all we were trying to do was take it over by over and just take the game till the end. We knew that if we bat till the 46th or 47th over, we would win the game. That was the idea and that was the talk in the middle," Rohit told Bumrah when the latter asked him about his knock with the former skipper.

Rohit and Bumrah play for the same IPL franchise Mumbai Indians together and the latter has flourished under the former's captaincy.

Bumrah was adjudged the man of the match for his superb figures of 5/25 and ensured the Men In Blue restrict Sri Lankans to another low total.

The right-handed classical batsman asked the slinger about his experience in Sri Lanka as it is his first tour to the island nation and about how he's feeling after getting back into the team after a break.

"Yeah it is always good to get some time off, especially spending so much time on the field, it is important to spend time off the field as well," said the 23-year-old Gujarat bowler.

Both Rohit and Bumrah were rested for the limited-overs series against West Indies.

When asked about team atmosphere, Bumrah said there are no ego issues amongst players and everyone enjoys each other's success.

Bumrah also credited the bowling coach Bharath Arun for helping him improve as a bowler as the latter knows him since his under-19 days.
