Nagpur, Nov 26: India skipper and batting mainstay Virat Kohli once again displayed his penchant for scoring big runs as he notched up his career's fifth double century in the second Test against Sri Lanka here on Sunday (November 26).

After slamming his second consecutive century in the series and shattering several records en route his 19th Test ton, the 29-year-old run machine went on to bring up his second Test double of the year.

With this fifth double century, the aggressive right-handed batsman equalled West Indian batting great Brian Lara's record of five double centuries as a captain.

Kohli, who notched up a fine century in the previous game in Kolkata, slammed his 12th Test century as a captain and surpassed Sunil Gavaskar's record of 11 tons.

This is Kohli's 22nd international century (10 ODIs, 12 Tests) as captain and 10th in the year 2017.

Starting the day from his overnight score of 54, the 29-year-old started scoring quickly to bring up his ton. His partner on the other end, Cheteshwar Pujara, was playing his conventional Test knock i.e. watch the ball and defend while Kohli was in the mood to score.

Leading by example, Kohli started the day's proceedings aggressively as he scored runs quickly and completed his century in the morning session.
